2015 Student Travel Program Award Recipients

OERA has awarded travel funds to support senior undergrad and graduate student research in projects related to tidal marine energy and offshore petroleum/geoscience research.

The funds are in support of senior undergrad or graduate student research travel to international research facilities or laboratories which will contribution to the advancement of the offshore energy sector in Nova Scotia.

Dr. Peir Pufahl, Department of Earth & Environmental Science at Acadia University, and Professor of the Advanced Field School at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences praises the student opportunities, indicating that “The OERA Student Research Travel Program ensures students have access to state-of-the-art training opportunities that would otherwise not exist.  These opportunities are instrumental in shaping students into professional geoscientists while enriching the research ecosystem in the Maritimes.”

The February 2015 Student Travel Program awards have been granted to the following students:

  • Thomas Allen, Dalhousie University – travel to Advanced Field School in Southern Nevada, USA
  • Jordan Carlson, Dalhousie University – travel to Belfast, Ireland
  • Devan Cowan, Dalhousie University – travel to Advanced Field School in Southern Nevada, USA
  • Krista Kroeninger, Acadia University – travel to Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences
  • Laura MacNeil, Acadia University – travel to Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences
  • Nathan Pidduck, Dalhousie University – travel to Advanced Field School in Southern Nevada, USA
