Testing of Temporal Monitoring Techniques for Benthic Habitat Impacts from Tidal Power Development

This project will test and develop monitoring procedures for assessing the impact of the placement of TISEC devices (e.g. turbines, cables and other seafloor hardware) on the seafloor environment in terms of the physical habitat structure and associated benthic assemblages resulting from bed-form movement and scour formation.  The project will collect test data over case study sites in the Bay of Fundy using high-resolution acoustic survey techniques (multibeam sonar and side scan sonar) and benthic biological sampling methods (underwater grabs, video, photographs).
