2013 Nova Scotia Tidal Energy Research Symposium & Forum

OERA, the Nova Scotia Department of Energy and the Fundy Energy Research Network (FERN) held a two day Nova Scotia Tidal Energy Research Symposium & Forum on May  14 – 15, 2013, at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

The objective of the symposium was to bring together individuals actively engaged in tidal energy research and related activities, project development and regulation to share and discuss findings, insights, challenges, lessons learned and relevance of the environmental, technological/engineering and socioeconomic research and technical work related to tidal energy development in Nova Scotia.

The two day event highlighted regional tidal energy research findings and their relevance and application to the tidal energy industry in Nova Scotia.  The program included:

  • Presentations on research results and lessons learned and its practical relevance to tidal energy development and regulation;
  • Facilitated discussions on information/technology gaps and challenges, research priorities for industry and policy makers and development of technological solutions to assist tidal energy developments;
  • Networking opportunities to foster dialogue, understanding and cooperation among the research community, industry and regulators.

The symposium was organized by the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute (ATEI) and Fundy Energy Reserach Network (FERN), in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Energy and OERA.
