Predictive modelling of sandstone reservoir quality in the Scotian Basin

This project will use existing knowledge of inferred drainage basin areas and paleoclimate to model multiple river inputs to the Scotian Basin. The modelled sedimentary succession will be compared with actual sediment thicknesses in the basin. Results of the basin infill modelling will also be compared with reservoir quality and diagenetic paragenesis in different parts of the basin. The result of this study will be improved prediction of regional reservoir quality risk in different parts of the basin. A further goal is to improve modelling protocols so that reservoir quality can be predicted in undrilled frontier basins, such as the southwestern part of the deep-water Shelburne sub-basin.
