Welcome to our website. Offshore Energy Research
Association of Nova Scotia (OERA) is an independent,
not-for-profit organization that funds and facilitates
collaborative offshore energy and environmental research
and development including examination of renewable
energy resources and their interaction with the marine environment. Our mission is to lead environmental,
renewable and geoscience energy research that enables the sustainable development of Nova Scotia energy resources through strategic partnerships with academic, government and industry.

OERA was previously known as Offshore Energy Environmental Research (OEER) and Offshore Energy Technical Research (OETR). In April 2012, OEER and OETR amalgamated to become Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia (OERA), the Nova Scotian leader of research in marine petroleum exploration, development and production and renewable energy technologies.

OERA funds research in the following areas:

Offshore Energy Research

The OERA has undertaken considerable research on the viability of energy exploration on Nova Scotia’s offshore. The result is a comprehensive Play Fairway Analysis and Geoscience Data Package Program.
