Using Dry Ports to Support Nova Scotia’s Tidal Industry

Principal Investigators:

Start Date: March 2018

End Date: September 2018

The primary research objective of the study is to be able to demonstrate the (potential) economic advantages of utilizing the dry ports of Hantsport and Parrsboro to support operations and maintenance activities in connection with the tidal energy industry in Nova Scotia, and more specifically in the adjacent waters of the Minas Passage. The output from the study will include information on the technical, operational, and economic factors to be compared in order to determine what real benefits might be realized. The study will consider the costs of working from the wet ports currently used (i.e. Saint John, Pictou, Digby) and particularly the variable costs involved in these operations when looking at the dry port solution/option.
