Test Snow Crab Response to Seismic Stress

There is concern in Atlantic Canada that there is insufficient information on the potential effects of seismic noise on snow crab. BiotaGuard has developed a real-time monitoring system to measure biological impacts on marine organisms. The project team examined whether the BiotaGuard biosensor technology was capable of monitoring physiological and behavior traits in crustaceans and molluscs prior to, during and following exposure to seismic testing.
